Does anyone Hunt Deer with .223 Caliber Rifle? - 223 hunting deer michigan

I live in Michigan, under the direction of the gun, which means we must use the gun. We are planning a hunting trip in Wisconsin, where weapons are allowed. I thought with my AR-15 with a scope and a clip of 5 game of the round, I have purchased. 223 is strong enough to kill deer? No one I've used successfully? I can imagine that if the military uses against people who probably good enought to get the deer, or is this logic should be wrong? Bonus for personal expierence.
